Kiswebs provide registration of all domain name extensions. If you are unfamiliar with what a domain name actually is please visit the useful tips area at the bottom of this page.
In the UK we generally recommend that you buy the .co.uk AND .com version of your domain names. The reason for this is that you will want to protect your business branding from others.
Remember only one person or business can register a domain name.
If you have a name with two words in it it may also be advisable to buy the domain names with a hyphen between the words.

OK - With domain names it is really quite simple. There are 3 possible ways of deciding which domain name is appropriate to you.
1. Your Business Name
2. A word or words that describe your products or services.
3. An interesting word that is either made up or memorable
Your business name is the obvious choice, but can also be the most difficult to get depending on what your name was. If your business name was a single word that is quite a common word then the chances are you won't obtain it as your domain name. e.g. if your business name was "insurance" then forget it - someone else would have snapped this up ages ago. The more words in your business name the better chance of obtaining it as a domain name. e.g. "glasgowinsurancedirect2u.co.uk" - the chances are if you include "hyphens" in the name you will stand an even better chance of obtaining the domain name. e.g. "glasgow-insurance-direct-2u.co.uk". There are countless variations on domain names and sometimes it takes a bit of creativity to come up with one incorporating your business name.
If you supply web design services in Glasgow, then you could use this service as a means to obtaining your domain name. e.g. "web-design-glasgow.co.uk" despite your business name being something like "kiswebs". All we have done here is used something that describes the products or services we provide, which in turn may help you get found through search engines.
This is a commonly used technique that you will often see employed by large companies who want to generate a bit more interest and also make things easy to remember. However it does not only have to apply to large businesses and can equally be affective for small business. If we use our own business as an example - kiswebs - whilst this is our business name it is actually a made up name that on face value doesn't mean anything. It stands for Keep It Simple Web Solutions, but in essence it is a made up word. It also has the word "kis" in it which often provokes interest when you call someone and tell them you are from Kiswebs - they tend to remember it because it perhaps conjures up different thoughts in their mind.
Simple short words are preferable - "Orange" "Kodak", etc etc etc . However these are 2 very different examples. Orange is a real word and therefore would be much more difficult to obtain as a domain name, whereas Kodak is a word that has no meaning as defined in the dictionary, and such a "made up" word should be easier to obtain as long as its a word you have made up and not an already existing brand name.
So as you can see there are a few different options you can select from. If you are slightly confused or totally confused please call us on 0141 332 7144 and we will explain things in more detail.
